A Rising Star in EMS 🚑💫

Sophia began her career in biotech, but she wanted to work directly with patients and make a difference in her community.

While researching EMT programs, she applied for Westmed’s Rising Star EMT Scholarship and earned a full scholarship to Bay Area Training Academy. Today she’s on our team as an EMT, working toward her longer-term goal of becoming a Physician Assistant. 🩺

“Every interaction I’ve had with patients, medical staff, and members of our community has helped me grow as a person. I’m grateful to Westmed for the Rising Star EMT Scholarship and for giving me a stepping stone into EMS and healthcare.”

Congratulations, Sophia. We’re glad to be part of your journey. 💙

Meet Jason Rodriguez, Director of Talent Acquisition & People.

For the past three years, Jason has played a key role in building the Westmed team by identifying talented individuals who not only possess strong clinical skills, but also share a passion for providing exceptional patient care.

When evaluating candidates, Jason looks beyond certifications and experience. He values the unique qualities, experiences, and perspectives each person brings to the table, recognizing that great employees contribute far more than just their technical skills.

Thank you Jason for using that philosophy to shape Westmed into the organization it is today! 💙

Meet Bita Ciriaco, EMT and Field Training Specialist Westmed!

For Bita, being a Field Training Specialist is about more than just the job. It’s about helping others grow while continuing to challenge herself. She believes teaching is one of the best ways to truly master your craft, and through training new EMTs, she’s grown both professionally and personally.

One of the most rewarding parts for her is watching new EMTs gain confidence. Her advice to new EMTs is simple. “Stay open to learning and be willing to learn, take feedback, and grow from experience. “

Thank you Bita for your commitment to excellence. Westmed is a better place with leaders like you! 👏🚑
