Many thanks to our Advisory Council members who visited the department last week for their Fall meeting and reviewed progress made by students in their studio work. Special thanks to:

Greg Hauser, for coordinating council members to come Thursday evening and conduct mock interviews for our 4th-year students in the Professional Practice class.

Brian Fletcher, for arranging an excellent lunchtime presentation on Friday with a panel of five new council members discussing how to build careers that make an impact.

SCASLA, for organizing a fantastic mixer event with students, council members, faculty, and even some alumni in town for a reunion that joined in the fun!

If you are visiting the Landscape Architecture department, be sure to check out Sam Green's award-winning senior capstone project displayed in the hallway outside rooms 209 and 210 in Dexter building.

The Award of Excellence is the highest honor given by ASLA for each of the student categories and we are incredibly proud of Sam's achievement. 🎉🏆

Project Statement:
Roots Over Roads is a community-informed planning framework for decommissioning Oakland's underutilized I-980 corridor and reconnecting West Oakland to downtown and Oakland to its waterfront. Organized through three strategies--Mend, Root, and Bloom--it restores the street grid, supports cultural memory and collective ownership, and transforms the corridor into a resilient civic and ecological spine shaped by community priorities.

We are looking forward to meeting students and their family members for Mustang Family Weekend!

On Saturday, October 3rd, we'll have a showcase of student & faculty research from 10:30 to 11:30am in Dexter building (34), room 210. Students and faculty are excited to present their work on senior capstone projects, mass timber, drone-aided design, and more!

Before that, the college is hosting Coffee with the CAED from 9:00 to 10:00am at the Architecture building (05) staircourt. All five departments will be represented at this social event, which also requires an RSVP to ensure there will be drinks and pastries for everyone to enjoy.
