Too often, I get a call to meet family at a hospital because a Loved One is in trauma and paperwork needs to be done. Sad to see a family in crisis at anytime. (HEARTBREAKING) I am not an attorney, but please, if you are 18 years and older, you have a responsibility to yourself and others. If nothing else, set up your Power of Attorney and ADVANCE HEALTH CARE DIRECTIVE. It takes the guesswork out of the situation and the control is not left in the hands of Doctors and other not so capable people. Your are still in control but have back-up if incapacitated.

A Last Will and Testament:
Must be witnessed by 2 persons who have no affiliation to the contents. The Will does not have to be notarized in the State of California. Each State has it's own laws. Check requuirements/protocol/laws carefully in your State.

Does having a Document notarized, make it legal?
The answer is NO!
A Notary checks the signers identification, does not read but does Flip through the document for any blanks/unfilled spaces, witnesses the signing of the document, completes the process with signing and stamping an attached notary certificate. The Notary has no way of knowing whether the content of any document is accurate.

What To bring to the signing?
Always bring current Gov. issued photo ID. If not available, 2 credible witnesses, who know you well, with their photo ID can vouch for you!
