Now that the appropriate agencies have had time to respond and begin reviewing the devastating plane crash that occurred late Thursday evening in Wimberley, I want to take a moment to thank our local first responders who acted quickly and professionally throughout the incident. The investigation is still ongoing, and we will respect the authorities responsible for providing additional details as they become available.

A special thank you to Wimberley Fire Rescue and Chief Robbins, for being first on the scene and going above and beyond in their response. Thank you as well to Wimberley EMS, DPS, and the Hays County Sheriff's Office for your efforts in assisting federal agencies, securing the area, and supporting the response every step of the way.

To the families and loved ones of those who lost their lives, this tragedy is heartbreaking. My heart goes out to everyone affected by this accident. Moments like this are a reminder of how precious life is and how important it is to hold our loved ones close. Sending thoughts and prayers to all those grieving during this difficult time.

This week I had the opportunity to speak on county updates and western Hays water issues. Rotary Club of San Marcos also gave $20k to Texas State for the Burdick Scholarship. Lane Closures with One-Way Traffic Control on RM 3237 ⛔️

TxDOT will complete paving operations for the northbound widening section of RM 3237 near Lone Mountain Road. Paving is expected to be completed by close of business on Thursday, March 26, 2026, weather permitting.

Following paving, traffic may be shifted as early as Friday, March 27, depending on field conditions. To implement the traffic shift, existing pavement striping will be removed and temporary workzone striping will be placed under a mobile operation to shift all traffic to the east side of RM 3237.

During this shift, traffic will be reduced to one lane with flagging personnel directing motorists. Travelers should expect intermittent delays and are urged to drive cautiously, follow posted signage, and remain alert for construction workers and equipment entering and exiting the roadway.
