On Purple Heart Day, we pay tribute to the brave service members who were wounded or gave their lives in defense of our freedoms. Their courage is a reminder that the liberties we enjoy each day were earned through extraordinary sacrifice.

Generations of Americans have answered the call to serve, defending our nation through times of challenge and sacrifice. From the Revolutionary War to today's Armed Forces, their commitment has helped preserve the freedoms and opportunities we enjoy.

The Veterans of Foreign Wars was founded on the principle that service does not end when the uniform comes off. Across Texas and throughout our nation, VFW members continue that legacy by serving Veterans, strengthening communities, mentoring youth, promoting patriotism, and honoring those who came before us.

Today, we celebrate not only America's birthday, but the generations of citizens and service members whose dedication has helped write our nation's story.

Happy 250th Birthday, America. May we continue to honor our past through service, unity, and a shared commitment to the ideals that have guided our nation for two and a half centuries.
