This site welcomes family-friendly comments and posts. In addition to the Facebook Content Code of Conduct, the City Communic

ations Department reserves the right to enforce the rules contained in this policy. The City of San Marcos is not responsible for the content nor does it endorse any site which has a link from this page. All content, comments and replies posted are subject to the Texas Public Information Act and are considered public information under that State law and may be disclosed in response to a request for information from any member of the public. Content and comments containing any of the following are not allowed for posting on this page and will be removed:
a) Profane language or off topic content;
b) Personal attacks or harassment of individuals or specific groups;
c) Hateful or discriminatory comments regarding race, ethnicity, religion, gender, disability, sexual orientation, political beliefs or any other form of discrimination;

Those individuals who fail to follow these guidelines may be banned from the page at any time. Join Broke Thespians Theater Company for their summer musical storytime series! The first event is today, June 3 from 2:30 - 3:30 p.m.

Enjoy Mermaid Tales, a free summer production inspired on Disney’s The Little Mermaid, with stories and interactive games!

Upcoming storytimes:

• Wednesday, June 24, from 2:30 - 3:30 p.m.

Starting today, the Local History Room of the San Marcos Public Library will be open for appointment-based research hours! Visit our Local History webpage at www.sanmarcostx.gov/641/Local-History and click the link for our Booking Page.

Booking times are available 24 hours to 14 days in advanced and are based on staff availability. If you need assistance with your booking, please call us at 512.393.8200.

All you need to provide is a name and email address where we can send your calendar invitation and reminder.

Come explore the history of San Marcos, Hays County, and the State of Texas in your San Marcos Public Library Local History Room!

Monday, June 1: Fencing Demo @ 10:30AM
Tuesday, June 2: Evening Storytime @ 6PM
Wednesday, June 3: Mermaid Tales @ 2:30PM
Thursday, June 4: Research Rangers @ 10:30AM & Author Visit @ 1:30PM
Saturday, June 6: Music & Movement @ 10:30AM

Also be sure to join us every Monday through Thursday for a FREE lunch for children ages 18 and under. Food will be served around 12PM.

Here is to another Saturday Celebration of another amazing kiddo reaching their goal of 1,000 Books Before Kindergarten. Let's give it up for Oliver who picked up his cool Booker hat and 1,000 Books Certificate on the 19th.

Oliver is ready for Summer Reading this year as he came in with his awesome dinosaur shirt, and, of course, his love of reading! If you want to Unearth some great stories this summer, stop in and grab a reading log - no matter your age - and start reading (and earning prizes) today!

We are FULL! Thanks to the generous book donations from members of our community, we are completely out of space to take more donations at this time. The .smtx will host their July Book Sale July 10 - 12, after which time we can accept more donations!

The San Marcos Kiwanis Club has once again shown incredible support for our community! They presented the Friends of the San Marcos Public Library (.smtx) with a generous $2,500 donation to support the Library’s 2026 Summer Reading Program.

The Kiwanis have sponsored our Summer Reading Program for over 30 years, helping us keep children reading, learning, and thriving throughout the summer months. Their long-standing generosity makes this beloved program possible year after year.

The Summer Reading Program kicks off this week with Big Rigs on May 29th!

A huge thank you to the Kiwanis for their continued dedication to our library and the families we serve. We’re grateful for your partnership!
