The purpose of this page is to keep our residents, businesses and visitors updated with the most recent news, events and information related to the City of San Marcos. In addition to the Facebook Content Code of Conduct, the City Communications Department reserves the right to enforce the rules contained in this policy

. The City of San Marcos is not responsible for the content nor does it endorse any site which has a link from this page. All content, comments and replies posted are subject to the Texas Public Information Act and are considered public information under that State law and may be disclosed in response to a request for information from any member of the public. Content and comments containing any of the following are not allowed for posting on this page and will be removed:
a) Profane language or off topic content;
b) Personal attacks or harassment of individuals or specific groups;
c) Hateful or discriminatory comments regarding race, ethnicity, religion, gender, disability, sexual orientation, political beliefs or any other form of discrimination;

f) Conduct or encouragement of illegal activity;

Registration is open for the next session of Power360 Self Defense Classes, where participants learn techniques on how to defend against attacks as well as how to be more self-aware and confident in dealing with and overcoming life threatening situations. This program is taught by instructor Deshon Ridge, who holds multiple certifications in personal training, natural response control tactics, Krav Maga, and boxing. 🀺 Summer Fencing Camp registration is still open!
Lead by US Olympic Fencing Team member and US National Champion, Gary van der Wege, participants will learn the history, footwork, blade work, fencing tactics and rules through games, drills, and bouting. These camps are designed for beginners or those with less than one year of fencing experience. Equipment is provided. Sign up today at sanmarcostx.gov/goparks.

Active Older Adults age 60+! We hope you can join us tomorrow, June 3 at noon at the San Marcos Activity Center for Fight the Fall.

In partnership with Fyzical Therapy and Balance, participants will learn dynamic balance, home safety, and balance strategies to prevent falls. Please wear loose, comfortable clothing with rubber-soled shoes. Registration is preferred but is not required at sanmarcostx.gov/goparks.

πŸŠβ€β™€οΈ Summer Swim Lesson Registration is still open!

The Parks and Recreation Department is once again partnering with British Swim School to bring summer swim lessons to the Rio Vista Pool. This collaboration offers a safe, fun and supportive environment for kids to learn and grow in the water. Lessons are available for as young as 3 months of age.

All registration, payment, scheduling and scholarships are handled directly through British Swim School website. Pricing varies and lessons are continuous from May 28 - August 7. To learn more and sign up, visit britishswimschool.com/austin/san-marcos-rio-vista-pool/.

We hope you can join us at the San Marcos Discovery Center on Saturday, June 27, from 7-9am as we learn how to shoot quality photos of the WILDcenter's avian ambassadors. This is a great opportunity for those wanting to improve their bird photo skills using real avian models in a natural setting. Birds include a Eurasian Eagle Owl, Saker Falcon, and a European Common Buzzard. Cost is $25 per person. Half of the funds raised for this program will go to support the WILDcenter and the other half will support the Discovery Center. Space is limited and registration is required at sanmarcostx.gov/goparks.

Taking place at the San Marcos Discovery Center every Tuesday from 10-11am, participants can interact with, feed and create enrichment items for the turtles who call the Discovery Center home.
