Stopped by The Carlson Law Firm today to thank attorney Kayla Alarcon and Danielle Mott with Carlson Cares. They’re out here right now providing 250 free backpacks filled with school supplies to local students and families getting ready for the new school year.

Back-to-school season can be expensive, and support like this makes a real difference for families. Grateful for local businesses that step up and invest directly in our kids and our community.

Our signs are going up around San Marcos, and I’m incredibly grateful for the outpouring of support and encouragement.

San Marcos is my home. For the last 11 years, I’ve had the privilege of serving our schools and students, and I’ve built a record of being an independent thinker, listening to everyone, and making decisions based on what I believe is right for the people I serve. To carry that same independence into this campaign, I’m making a pledge today: I will not accept any campaign contribution larger than $100.

This is a people-powered campaign, plain and simple.

At a time when so many in our community are struggling to afford groceries, rent, utilities, and everyday bills, City Hall should be focused on making life a little easier for the people who call San Marcos home. That means investing more in social services, supporting our small businesses, creating good jobs, protecting our river and aquifer, and keeping San Marcos affordable.

I’m a proud Rattler, a proud Bobcat, and I’m running to continue serving the hometown that helped raise me.

San Marcos belongs to all of us. That’s who I’m running for.

They’re back, y’all!

If you’ve been waiting for Alvin Ord’s, your wait is over. They’re holding a soft opening this week from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. while they get settled into the new space and system.

I stopped by today, and the new management and staff are doing a great job. The food is every bit as good as you remember.

My order has been the same for years: medium turkey on French bread, no onions.

Pro tip: side of ranch and two stuffed jalapeños. IYKYK.

Good morning, San Marcos!

Councilwoman Alyssa C. Garza and I are out at Owen Goodnight Middle School this morning for the 2026 Back to School Health Fair, and we’d love to see you here!

The event is happening until 1:00 p.m. and is completely free for families. There are backpacks and school supplies (while they last), hearing and vision screenings, free haircuts, community resources, games and activities, food, and much more. There will also be a no-cost back-to-school vaccine clinic for those who qualify.

United Way of Hays & Caldwell Counties is here too giving out free books, so be sure to stop by our table and say hello!

Thank you to the Hays County Health Department and all of the incredible community partners who came together to make this event possible. It’s a great example of what we can accomplish when we work together to support local families.

If you’re looking for something to do this morning and have school-aged kids, come by and see us!

The big day is almost here!

After years of planning and construction, we’re just days away from opening the new Irene K. Mendez Elementary School.

It’s been an incredible journey, and I can’t wait to celebrate this milestone with our students, families, staff, and community.

A lot of people have been asking me why I’m running for City Council or what my agenda is.

Well… here it is in black and white.

Or, more accurately, purple, black, and white… because duh, I’m a proud San Marcos Rattler.

These are the priorities I’ve heard from neighbors across San Marcos, and they’re the same issues I’ve seen firsthand through my years of public service.

Since this past spring, I’ve had the privilege of serving on the SMHA Board of Commissioners. Today, I get to chaperone some of the amazing kids from CM Allen and Allen Woods on a trip to Schlitterbahn.

We were up bright and early making lunches, packing everything up, and now we’re spending the day at Schlitterbahn together.

Growing up in San Marcos, I know this community has shaped who I am. There were people who invested in me, believed in me, and made sure I had opportunities I might not have had otherwise. I’ve never forgotten that.

Days like today remind me that public service isn’t just about meetings or decisions. It’s about showing up, being present, and giving back in whatever way you can.

I’m grateful for the opportunity to spend the day with these amazing kids. San Marcos has given me more than I could ever repay, but I’ll never stop trying.
