Peninsula Family Service envisions a community where opportunity, financial stability, and wellness are secured for all.

Since 1950, Peninsula Family Service has touched over half a million lives. Our programs empower clients by helping them build the skills they need to thrive. As we begin our seventh decade, we at Peninsula Family Service are proud to provide services in multiple languages to nearly 20,000 clients of all ages. We currently operate various child development centers and run the Fair Oaks Adult Activity Center and offer programs for older adults, families, and financial empowerment programs. We are proud to offer services to residents throughout San Mateo County, the Peninsula, south counties and beyond.

💰 Building Financial Confidence Starts Early!

Money skills are life skills—and Peninsula Family Service is helping young people build them early.

Our Youth Financial Workshops give teens ages 13–20 practical tools to navigate adulthood with confidence, from managing money and building credit to preparing for emergencies, reducing financial stress, and making responsible financial decisions.

Through this six-week program, young people gain the knowledge and confidence they need to take control of their financial futures. Because when young people have the right tools, they can build stronger, more secure futures. 💙

August was full of ocean discoveries for our little explorers! Through hands-on learning, children explored ocean animals, plants, sand, water, and habitats while building vocabulary and developing their language, creativity, fine motor, and social-emotional skills.

One of the highlights was creating an “Under the Sea” mural together! 🎨 The children painted the ocean, sand, plants, and sea animals while practicing teamwork, cooperation, and sharing as they brought their ideas to life.

Peninsula Family Service was proud to table at the September Arts & Culture Fest in Downtown San Mateo! We enjoyed meeting community members, sharing information about PFS programs and services, and connecting with neighbors in our own backyard. We love celebrating community, culture, and connection!

We recently hosted a community workshop at Casa Círculo Cultural in Redwood City, bringing together over 20 highly engaged attendees eager to learn more about building and growing their small businesses.

Participants gained valuable insights into credit, starting a business, and managing a business bank account—practical tools to help turn entrepreneurial goals into reality.
