Read-Aloud Volunteer Program

Read-Aloud Volunteer Program Read-Aloud is a relationship based program that fosters children the joy and love of learning through reading and storytelling.

Read-Aloud matches volunteers with kids to read together, and lets kids choose books for themselves. The program purchases all of the books and handles all training, coordination and administrative functions. We are funded by donations from individuals, foundations, community service groups, and corporate grants.

Come full circle this holiday season by reading a few words to inspire hope for the future by connecting the dots of the past with the lines of the present!

Interestingly enough, Martin Luther King Jr. Day, and the Presidential Inauguration, will occur on the same calendar day this 2025. On Monday 20, of January 2025, President Elect Donald J. Trump will take office on the same day, the United States observes Martin Luther King Jr. Day. While MLK Day is observed on the third Monday of January, it just happens to fall on January 20th, which coincides with the directive of the 20th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution, that specifies a president shall assume their official term on January 20th, after the current election year. Other than this coincidence, there is no correlation to these two occurrences. For information, and to view the twentieth amendment, please visit the links included in this post.

In a world of diverse cultures and traditions, reading holiday stories is a passport to celebration, understanding, and unity. Investigating holiday origins can deepen oneโ€™s appreciation for global customs and wisdoms and may lead to a pilgrimage of connection and enlightenment. So grab a book, delight in the experiences, and let the diversion of literature navigate you over the rainbow of celebration that engages our world!
