A new 210-foot mural is telling the story of San Rafael through wildlife, landscapes, history, and community life.

“San Rafael Tapestry” can be seen along the Second Street retaining wall at G Street in Downtown San Rafael. Created by Wyatt Hersey, a Santa Cruz-based artist who grew up in San Anselmo, brings together the story of San Rafael as a colorful tapestry celebrating the nature, creativity, and people of our community.

What costs more: sealing a small crack now, or rebuilding the road in 15 years?

The answer is why San Rafael takes a preservation-first approach to pavement. Crack sealing runs a few dollars per linear foot. Full reconstruction runs hundreds of dollars per square yard. Catching problems early and focusing on targeted repairs is how the City stretches every dollar of funding.

�The draft Citywide Bicycle and Pedestrian Plan provides a roadmap for creating safer, more comfortable, and better-connected routes throughout the city. Public comments are due June 24.

Join the City of San Rafael for the next community meeting about the interim shelter project at 350 Merrydale Road and future affordable housing development.

When: June 16, 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Where: Venetia Valley School – Multipurpose Room, 177 N San Pedro Rd, San Rafael

City staff will share updates on the interim shelter project, as well as information on the future affordable housing development planned for 350 Merrydale Road. The shelter will operate for up to three years before the site is developed as a minimum 80-unit affordable housing project.

Interpretation for the community meeting is available upon request. If you need interpretation services, please reach out at least 72 hours in advance by emailing [email protected].

With more than 30 years of service to the City, Lynette has spent over 15 of them as the driving force behind the Police Department's training program, coordinating more than 150 trainings each year for nearly 100 employees across more than 23 internal work groups. Her commitment to the department's training program directly strengthens the Police Department's performance, professionalism, and ability to serve San Rafael at the highest level.
