San Rafael City Hall will be closed to the general public on Fridays from June 5 through August 28, 2026. Community members who need in-person services at City Hall on a Friday may contact the relevant department in advance to schedule an appointment. San Rafael Community Centers, Libraries, Al Boro Parking Services, and all Public Safety services will remain open and maintain normal Friday hours.

City Hall Summer Hours:
Monday–Thursday: 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
Fridays: Open by appointment only.

El Ayuntamiento de San Rafael permanecerá cerrado al público los viernes desde el 5 de junio hasta el 28 de agosto de 2025. Los miembros de la comunidad que necesiten servicios en persona en el Ayuntamiento un viernes pueden ponerse en contacto con el departamento correspondiente con antelación para hacer una cita. Do you know “Where the Fountain Dreams” in San Rafael? At City Plaza Fountain, of course!

The City of San Rafael and the Downtown San Rafael Arts District welcome a new mural and ceramic tile installation titled “Where the Fountain Dreams” by artist Paz de la Calzada, now on view in Downtown San Rafael.

The mural is nearly complete, with ceramic tiles on the front pillars expected to be installed during the week of June 10.

Part of San Rafael’s Public Art Program, this installation is the second of five new public artworks arriving downtown during spring and summer 2026.

Funded by the California Arts Council, the program is bringing murals, mosaics, and sculptures to highly visible downtown locations while celebrating San Rafael’s creativity, culture, and growing Arts District.

¿Sabe dónde está «Where the Fountain Dreams» en San Rafael? ¡En la fuente de City Plaza, por supuesto!

La ciudad de San Rafael y el Distrito de las Artes del centro de San Rafael dan la bienvenida a una nueva instalación de murales y azulejos de cerámica titulada «Where the Fountain Dreams», de la artista Paz de la Calzada, que ya se puede ver en el centro de San Rafael.

El mural está casi terminado, y se espera que los azulejos de cerámica de los pilares frontales se instalen durante la semana del 10 de junio.

Como parte del Programa de Arte Público de San Rafael, esta instalación es la segunda de cinco nuevas obras de arte público que llegarán al centro de la ciudad durante la primavera y el verano de 2026.

The City of San Rafael has named Vedika Ahuja and Sherman Peng as Team of the Year for 2025. Please join the City in celebrating their service to the community!

The work of the Digital Service and Open Government Department's Data and GIS Team tends to happen behind the scenes, but residents feel it every day. The team's mission is to help the City use data and evidence to improve operations and services, and to make that data accessible to everyone. That means building tools like San Rafael's Open Data Portal and Citywide Performance Management Dashboard, which track the City's progress on key priorities including housing, sustainability, and equity.

San Rafael's commitment to this work was recognized in 2025, when Bloomberg Philanthropies awarded the City its What Works Cities Certification, an international standard of excellence in data-driven city governance. Their approach, starting with the end user and working backward, has drawn interest from other local government agencies looking to do the same.

Acompáñanos en la inauguración de «Touch the Sky», una escultura del artista Martin Taylor, la primera de cinco nuevas instalaciones del Programa de Arte Público de San Rafael.
