Yesterday, National Police Week commenced across our nation as communities, agencies, and families pause to honor the service and sacrifice of law enforcement officers. Last week the Court signed a proclamation recognizing National Police Week and honoring the men and women who serve their communities by wearing the badge.

National Police Week is a time to remember the officers who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty and to honor the legacy they leave behind. It is also a time to recognize the dedication, courage, and commitment carried by law enforcement officers each day in service to others.

Throughout this week, blue candles will once again glow in the windows of the San Saba County Sheriff’s Office and San Saba Police Department as a tribute to our fallen officers. These lights serve as a quiet reminder that the sacrifices made in this profession are never forgotten.

We invite our community to join us for our local Peace Officer Memorial Service as we come together in remembrance and gratitude. Our service will be held Wednesday evening at the San Saba County Courthouse, South steps.

To all deputies, officers, troopers, wardens, rangers, and agents - thank you for your unwavering service and dedication to the people of Texas and San Saba County. We are proud to serve alongside you.

As temperatures rise, so does traffic to our local waterways. We want everyone to enjoy the water safely - and that includes how and where you park.

Over the coming months, our deputies will be increasing enforcement around bridges, low-water crossings, and river access points. We are already receiving complaints and are issuing citations in these areas.

Parking on or around bridges and crossings creates serious safety hazards and can block emergency access. Parking in these areas may result in a citation or tow, especially when:
🚫Vehicles are parked on bridges or crossings
🚫Vehicles are parked where signs prohibit it
🚫Vehicles block or obstruct the roadway or access points

Parking in creek or riverbeds is often private property and may result in a citation or tow if done without landowner permission.

🌳 Please help us protect our waterways:
• Do not litter - illegal dumping is against the law
• Pack out what you bring in
• Leave these areas better than you found them

These areas must remain clear for visibility, traffic flow, and emergency response.
If you're heading out to cool off, please:
• Park in designated areas only
• Keep roadways and bridge approaches clear
• Respect private property and posted areas

Have fun, stay cool, and help us keep our waterways safe.

Whether answering calls, coordinating response, or working behind the scenes to keep operations moving, their commitment never goes unnoticed.

We are proud of this team and grateful for all they do each day.
