🦅🖊️ TATTOO A TEACHER WAS A HUGE SUCCESS! 🖊️🦅

Our Eagles had SO much fun with our very first Tattoo a Teacher Fun Friday — and you guys showed up BIG! 🎉

🏆 And now for our winners…

🥇 Mrs. Rael, our amazing Librarian — with a whopping 99 tattoo points! 🎉

🥈 Mr. Silva from 5th Grade — with an impressive 75 tattoo points! 🖊️

🥉 Mrs. McGuire from Kindergarten — with 65 tattoo points! 👏

And coming in with a 3-way tie for 4th place, each with over 50 tattoo points…

🖊️🦅 TATTOO A TEACHER FUN FRIDAY! 🦅🖊️

Get ready for a FUN Friday at Ellsworth Elementary! 🎉 On Friday, August 28, students will have the chance to give their favorite teachers and staff members some temporary “ink” during recess! 😂🖊️

We’ll have small tattoos, large tattoos, tattoo sleeves, and mystery tattoo bags for students to choose from!

And just for a little extra fun… 👀 our teachers and staff will be competing to see who can collect the most tattoos! The staff member with the most tattoos will take home an Amazon gift card! 🏆🎁

🎉 VOLUNTEERS NEEDED!
We’ll be tattooing from 11:30 AM–2:30 PM, but you don’t have to commit to the whole time! Whether you can help for 30 minutes, an hour, or the entire time, we’d love to have you!

Come hang out, help us keep the tattoos flowing, and watch our teachers get INKED! 😂🖊️

🚀 Wonder Wednesday was in full flight at Ellsworth!

This week, our Eagles explored Rosie Revere, Engineer and connected the story to our Word of the Week: COURAGE, having the courage to try, even when you might fail.

Then came the challenge: Build a flying machine from recycled materials! ✈️

Using the Engineering Design Process, students planned, created, collaborated, tested ideas, solved problems, and discovered that when something doesn't work the first time, that's not the end. It's information that helps you make your next idea even better.

Our guiding question was simple but powerful:
💡 How do engineers learn from failure?

Did you know that August is officially National Get Ready for Kindergarten Month? 🎒✨

Here in the J.O. Combs Unified School District, our newest little scholars got a head start on the celebration! With our school year kicking off on Monday, July 27th, our kindergarteners are already busy making friends, learning class routines, and adjusting to big-kid life.

Whether your student marched in with total confidence or you both shed a few first-day tears, August is all about building confidence and getting into a great rhythm.

💡 3 Ways to Keep the Momentum Going This August
Master the Morning Routine: Keeping bedtimes and wake-up schedules consistent (even on weekends!) makes the transition into full school days so much smoother.

Ask Specific Questions: Swap "How was your day?" for "What made you smile today?" or "What did you play at recess?" to get them talking.

Celebrate Small Victories: Unpacking their own folder, trying a new food at lunch, or hanging up their backpack are all big milestones worth cheering for!

🎉 Ready for Kindergarten: You've Got This! 🚀

The big day is almost here! It is completely normal for both you and your child to feel a mix of excitement and nerves. Children feed off our energy, so keeping conversations about school positive, confident, and enthusiastic is the best send-off you can give them.

Tonight's Checklist:
Pick out the first-day outfit together.
Pack the backpack and place it by the door.
Read a reassuring book (like The Kissing Hand or Our Class is a Family).
Get a good night's sleep (parents included!).
