James Van Der Beek was never just an actor on a hit television drama. He was the earnest dreamer many of us grew up watching as we tried to understand our own coming of age. He carried that same sincerity into films like Varsity Blues and Mrs. Miracle, always bringing a genuineness that made his characters feel personal and real. His social media was filled with encouragement for his fans and a deep, unwavering love for his family. The creek feels a little quieter now, but the stories still echo. When we revisit his work, we remember not only who we were when we first watched, but who we are now, better for having watched him.

"...the original verse said, "How does a dinosaur say goodnight. . ." And I was thinking of one dinosaur and his family. But Mark Teague, the illustrator chosen for the book, thought that doing one dinosaur over and over would be visually boring. And there is nothing worse for a book than a bored illustrator. Besides, he had been a little boy once (and not that long ago) and he thought that that little boys who hate to go to bed love the variety in dinosaurs. So he suggested doing different big lizards and different families."

We love seeing successful collaborations between creative writer and artists who think outside of the box. This series features many different dinosaurs, each in familiar predicaments that kids can identify with. What a great way to learn about manners, and prehistoric creatures!

Laura: That would depend on who gave it to me.
Almanzo: If I should?
Laura: Then it would depend on the ring."
