ANNOUNCEMENT:

Idaho Department of Lands will have an engine on the mountain today doing a patrol post lightning strikes. If you see them, make sure you say hi! They are doing an extra patrol of the community and the mountain due to the storm cell that rolled through last night.

Most importantly, I want to thank everyone who called in the lightning strikes last night. It was your quick reporting that got us in the area rapidly!

⚡LIGHTNING FIRES⚡

The lovely lightning storm that rolled through lit off three trees in the Mogul Hill Rd area. With assistance from Northside Fire District , we were able to knock down all visible vegetation fires. Many thanks to our service partners!! IDL will be patrolling the mountain tomorrow looking for residual fires.

INCIDENT ALERT:

Schweitzer Fire units currently on scene of a brush fire in the community. Yes, you are still able to burn. Yes...it's still VERY dry. Even up on the mountain, where the water starts, it's very dry. Please make sure you have plenty of defensible space if you plan a burn. The dry duff runs deep up here....

We are standing with Selkirk Fire Rescue & EMS as well as Northside Fire District in their pushup challenge for the month of February! Being a paramedic myself, I get to see the ravages poor heart health can have on a person. Please go follow Selkirk and Northside and join in their challenge if you are up for it!! The following is their post:

🏋️‍♀️Push-up Challenge Kickoff🏋️‍♀️

Today is the day! The 1,000 Push-up Challenge starts today. We have 28 days to reach 1,000 push-ups.

Our Selkirk and Northside Fire District firefighters are ready to start the challenge strong. We will check-in each Sunday and see how everyone is doing. If you would like to join the challenge, there is still time. Add your name in the comments below, and we will put you on the list.

If you are bold enough, you can DM us videos and photos of you doing your push-ups for our weekly check-in posts.
