The Sandusky Police Department is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of 10-year-old, Elliot Norrup. One of Elliot's biggest dreams and goals was to become a police officer, and we were blessed to be able to make that dream come true for him. It was our honor to have Elliot sworn in by Chief Oliver and serve alongside our officers July 23rd, 2026. We extend our sincerest condolences to his friends and family.

Drive Sober This Labor Day, and Every Day
The City of Sandusky Police Department will be participating in the annual National Labor Day campaign Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over, which runs from August 19-September 7, 2026. This campaign aims to educate people about the dangers and consequences of driving drunk.
Have a Plan Whether You're Driving, Riding or Hosting
• Before drinking, plan a safe and sober ride home.
• Don’t let someone get behind the wheel if they've been drinking.
• If you’re hosting a gathering, make sure all your guests have a sober ride home.
• If you see an impaired driver, call 911. And always wear your seat belt — it’s your best defense against impaired drivers.
