🐶⏰ Time is running out to license your dog without a late fee!

All dogs in Sandwich must be licensed by June 30 to avoid additional charges. Dog licenses help ensure pets can be quickly identified and returned home if they become lost, while also helping the Town maintain accurate records.

📍 License your dog:
✔️ In person at the Town Clerk's Office
✔️ Online
✔️ By mail

💲 License Fees:
• Neutered/Spayed: $10 (1 year)
• Non-Neutered/Spayed: $15 (1 year)

📋 Please remember that a current rabies certificate (showing the expiration date) is required when applying or renewing.

🎉 It's Official-- The Town of Sandwich Has a New Charter! 🏛️

The Town of Sandwich is pleased to share that the updated Town Charter is now finalized after being approved by the Massachusetts Legislature and Governor. The Charter is available here: https://www.sandwichmass.org/DocumentCenter/View/211

This achievement represents years of thoughtful discussion, collaboration, public input, Town Meeting action, and legislative review. The Charter Review Committee, established in 2022, worked diligently to evaluate and recommend updates that would modernize and strengthen the Town Charter for the future.

Changes approved include:
✔️ Updating references from “Board of Selectmen” to “Select Board” and “Chairman” to “Chair”
✔️ Modernizing language to align with current State law
✔️ Clarifying certain internal Town procedures and budget processes
✔️ Changing the Town Clerk position from an elected position to an appointed position

Following Town Meeting approvals in 2023 and 2024, the updates advanced through the Home Rule Petition process and were ultimately approved by the Massachusetts Legislature and Governor as part of a combined special act in late March.

This milestone would not have been possible without the dedication and hard work of the Charter Review Committee, Town Meeting Members, Town Counsel, Town staff, elected officials, legislative partners, and community members who contributed throughout the process.

Thank you to everyone involved in helping move this important effort forward and supporting effective, modern local government for Sandwich’s future. 👏

Town of Sandwich offices will be closed today in observance of Memorial Day.

We join the community in taking this day to honor and remember the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. ❤️🤍💙

Town offices will be closed today, April 20, in observance of Patriots' Day, which commemorates the first battles of the Revolutionary War. 🏛️✨

As the oldest town on Cape Cod, Sandwich was part of the revolutionary spirit that ignited in 1775. Local patriots supported the fight for independence, helping lay the foundation for the freedoms we celebrate today.

Patriots’ Day is a time to honor that legacy and remember the courage of those who shaped our nation—and our town. We look forward to honoring this legacy with our Sandwich Celebrates America 250 celebrations this summer (https://www.sandwichmass.org/1793/Sandwich-Celebrates-America-250).

Town offices will reopen during normal business hours on Tuesday, April 21.
