With a 9-6 victory over Ipswich, these outstanding student-athletes have made history by earning the first state championship in the program's history.

Accepted items listed below will be accepted at Sandwich Fire Department Station 3 - 251 Cotuit Road from 9am to 11am. Pull up in your car and hand us your expired medications!

Staff Sergeant Raymond G. Tourville—a son of Sandwich, United States Marine, and a treasured member of our community—will be forever honored through the Governor’s official dedication of a veterans memorial overpass in his name.

The bill signed by Governor Healey yesterday renames the Quaker Meetinghouse Road overpass on Route 6 as the United States Marine Corps Staff Sergeant Raymond G. Tourville Veterans Memorial Bridge.

Staff Sergeant Tourville’s service, leadership, and sacrifice reflect the very best of our town and our nation. This permanent memorial ensures his life and legacy will be remembered by all who travel this roadway he knew so well.

🚧 Our pavement striping program is officially underway! 🚶‍♀️🚗

As crews work across Sandwich, you may notice new pavement markings and crosswalk designs as part of our ongoing efforts to improve pedestrian safety throughout town. Here is a quick update:

✅New Crosswalk Patterns: You will notice changes to some crosswalks. These updated patterns comply with State and Federal standards to significantly improve visibility for both drivers and pedestrians.

🚸 New standards call for longitudinal crosswalk markings at locations where vehicles are not otherwise required to stop.
🎨 Some existing crosswalks will transition from the traditional two-line (transverse) design to the new longitudinal pattern.
🛠️ Existing transverse lines may be:
✔️ Ground off,
⏳ Left to wear away naturally, or
🔄 Incorporated into the new crosswalk design,
depending on the marking material (paint, thermoplastic, or epoxy), future crosswalk relocation plans, and other project considerations.

✅Better Signage: This striping program complements the pedestrian crossing signs and signals we recently installed.

✅Future Upgrades: We are currently working through MassDOT grant programs on further safety upgrades, including new pedestrian signals on Cotuit Road. Crosswalk locations and designs are likely to change as part of this work.

✅Quaker Meetinghouse Rd & Cotuit Rd: The new design for this intersection will feature dedicated pedestrian amenities, including extended sidewalks, new crosswalks, and pedestrian crossing signals.
