Mountain Top Fire Company

Mountain Top Fire Company Mountain Top Fire Co. is stationed in the village of Sandy Ridge. We currently have one engine rescue, one utility, one brush unit, one UTV, and two ambulances.

We also have a sub-station in Osceola Mills for our ambulance building. The Mountain Top Fire Company is situated in the South Western portion of Rush Township in the village of Sandy Ridge at an elevation of 2040. We were organized in 1927. We are Centre County Station 13. Currently, we provide fire suppression, rescue services and emergency medical services with an EMS substation in Osceola Mil

ls, Clearfield County. We are responsible for a population of approximately 1500 residence and provide EMS to another approximately 3000 residents. Our area is comprised mainly of a rural area including PA State Game Lands #'s 33 and 60 comprising 21,900 acres. We are responsible for a 10 mile section of State Route 350, which is the major connector route between the south from I-99 to US Route 322 West and I- 80 West. This route is a heavily traveled route for truck traffic.

2545 DRANE HWY, DECATUR TWP

Engine Rescue 13 along with Ambulance 13 dispatched to assist the Columbia Volunteer Fire Company with a working dwelling fire. Captain 11-1 and Chief 13-3 were the first arriving, confirming no entrapment and made entry to find the seat of the fire. Fire was found in the kitchen area in the ceiling. Engine Rescue 13 arrived on scene simultaneously as Engine 22-1. Engine Rescue 13 laid a driveway line supplying ourselves and Engine 22-1 from the Tanker shuttle set up on Drane Hwy. Engine Rescue 13 crew deployed an 1 3/4 attack line in the front door and began fire suppression while Engine 22-1 deployed an attack line to side β€œC.” Crews then performed overhaul. EMS transported one to the hospital for evaluation. Company 13 operated on scene for approximately 2 hours with 7 volunteers and 4 EMS personnel.

Last night's cookout, held in observance of EMS Appreciation Week, provided an opportunity for members, employees and some neighboring friends to gather and bid farewell to EMT Emma. Emma has graduated from PSU with a BS in Biology and has accepted a position at a New York hospital. We offer our best wishes to her.

Check out this employee spotlight from Moshannon Valley EMS!

Ben began his career right here in Sandy Ridge joining at the young age of 14 and is still very active in our department. He has rose through the ranks throughout his tenure and is currently serving as our Vice President and Assistant Fire Chief. He is also the EMS Chief of our ambulance service, Mountain Top Fire Co. Ambulance Service.

We thank Ben for his years of service and continued service to us and Moshannon Valley.
