๐ŸŒฒ It's a beautiful day to get outside and enjoy the trails!

We're seeing a lot of visitors at the Cascade Gorge Trail today, and the parking area appears to be quite busy.

As a friendly reminder, parking in the municipal parking lot is not permitted. We appreciate the signage at the trailhead that helps direct visitors to appropriate parking areas.

If you arrive and find the parking area full, please consider returning a little later or exploring one of the many other beautiful trails our region has to offer.

You can find additional hiking opportunities through the Maine Trail Finder here: https://www.mainetrailfinder.com/trails?town=680&distance=20&view=map

Thank you for helping us keep our community safe by respecting designated parking areas, and enjoy your time on the trails!

๐ŸŒก๏ธ Weather Heads-Up for Today โ›ˆ๏ธ

Just a reminder to stay weather-aware today, as we're forecast to experience two weather hazards:

๐Ÿ”ฅ Heat & Humidity: Heat index values will make it feel much hotter than the actual air temperature. If you're spending time outdoors, stay hydrated, take frequent breaks in the shade or air conditioning, and check in on family, friends, and neighbors who may be more vulnerable to the heat. The CDC's Heat & Health Tracker is a great resource to monitor heat risk: https://ephtracking.cdc.gov/Applications/heatTracker/

โ›ˆ๏ธ Late-Day Strong to Severe Thunderstorms: Conditions are expected to become favorable for strong to potentially severe thunderstorms later this afternoon into the evening. The primary threats may include damaging wind gusts, frequent lightning, torrential downpours, and localized flooding, with hail also possible in some areas. Stay alert for watches and warnings as the day progresses and have multiple ways to receive weather alerts.

For the latest forecasts, watches, and warnings, follow the National Weather Service in Gray, Maine:

Stay cool, stay weather-aware, and stay safe! ๐ŸŒค๏ธโžก๏ธโ›ˆ๏ธ
