Today is the last day to request an absentee ballot or vote in the presence of the Clerk without special circumstances.

Under Maine law, the deadline to request an absentee ballot or vote in the presence of the Clerk is by the close of business on the Thursday prior to Election Day.

🎣 The Best Things in Life Are Free… Like Fishing

School’s almost out, the sun is sticking around a little longer, and Free Fishing Weekend is the perfect excuse to get outside and cast a line!

On May 30–31, residents and nonresidents can fish Maine waters license-free all weekend long.

Whether you’re introducing a child to their first catch, heading out to a favorite fishing spot with friends, or simply looking for an excuse to enjoy the outdoors, this is your chance to spend some time on the water—no fishing license required.

No fancy setup needed—just grab a rod, pack some snacks, and find your spot along the shore, off a dock, or out in a boat. Early mornings, sunny afternoons, or “just one more cast” before dinner—it all counts.

A quick reminder: while fishing licenses are not required during Free Fishing Weekend, all other fishing laws and regulations still apply. Be sure to check size and bag limits, as well as any waterbody-specific rules before heading out.

So make a plan, bring some bug spray, and enjoy one of Maine’s favorite summer traditions. You never know what might bite—but a good day outside is always a keeper. 🎣

Maine Senior FarmShare Program Enrollment Opens June 1

The Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry (DACF) announces that enrollment for the 2026 Maine Senior FarmShare Program (MSFP) will open on June 1, 2026.

Now in its 25th year, the MSFP helps connect older adults with fresh Maine-grown produce, cut herbs, and honey while also supporting local farms across the state.

Eligible older adults can apply online through the MSFP website. The application includes a list of participating farms by county, and applicants may choose any farm regardless of where they live in Maine.

After submitting the application, participants will receive an immediate email confirming whether they are eligible or ineligible.

The Land Use Planning Commission (LUPC) is initiating a process to update the Comprehensive Land Use Plan (CLUP), which helps guide future land use and development decisions within the LUPC service area.

As a Plantation within the LUPC coverage area, we encourage residents, property owners, and other interested stakeholders to participate in the public informational sessions and provide input during this process.
