Sandy Springs Fire would like to congratulate Capt. Kristine Jones on her appointment to the newly created position of Opioid Outreach Officer. Capt. Jones will work with various city, state, and federal agencies to help bring education and resource opportunities to our community to help reduce the impact of opioid related responses. Capt. Jones will also be managing the City of Sandy Springs Avive 4 minute community AED project and assisting with our community paramedic program.

Over the weekend Sandy Springs Fire’s swift water rescue team was out on the Chattahoochee assisting with the inaugural SUP Showdown, a 6 mile standup paddle board race. Our swift water team trains to respond to all types of water emergencies and frequently performs standby functions for events on the Chattahoochee River.

On Sunday, August 16th, personnel from Sandy Springs Fire station 4 assisted the city of Atlanta with a residential house fire. Station 4 frequently assists the City of Atlanta with emergency responses when Atlanta units are out on other responses or may have delayed responses.

Sometimes our friends in the Sandy Springs Police department need a little help. In this instance they lost one of their fancy drones and needed us to go rescue it! .

Over the weekend Sandy Springs Fire personnel showed up to a local ice cream social to make sure everyone stayed cool and had a great time! Being an active part of the Sandy Springs community is one of Sandy Springs Fire’s core missions.

On the evening of August 8th Sandy Springs Fire crews were dispatched to a commercial fire in the 5000 block of Roswell rd. With the first arriving crews on scene in under four minutes, SSFD personnel were quickly able to bring the fire under control and limit damage to one office. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

It’s not too often that we encounter a wreck like this. Luckily everyone walked away uninjured from this accident on 285 westbound. It’s a good reminder to pay attention to traffic and weather conditions while driving. Stay Safe out there!!

Thank you to everyone who came out and visited us for the 2026 National Night Out!!! We loved meeting everyone and getting to spread some good feelings and a whole lot of water!! It was so much turn that SSPDs chief had to get in on the action. To be fair it was the “police station” on fire!!
