When it comes to AI and proposed data centers, diligence and critical review are necessary, but perspective is also required.

People are worried about Artificial Intelligence (AI) and its use of water. If you care about the Colorado River, if you have watched Lake Powell’s water level drop and Lake Mead shrink, and have felt the dread of living in a place that is running out of its most essential resource, then hearing that a new technology is guzzling water hits a nerve. It should. The instinct to protect what is disappearing is a good one. But it turns out that AI isn’t as dire a threat to our water as people may think.

Clark County Parks & Recreation is partnering with Commissioner Justin Jones to provide an affordable event. It will be at the at 7025 S Fort Apache Rd on Saturday, June 27 from 5pm to 8pm. It was truly an honor to recognize the incredible community partners, volunteers, and students from West Career & Technical Academy at last week’s Clark County Board of County Commission Meeting for helping make history by breaking the Guinness World Record for the Largest Blanket Fort.

On May 16, we officially set the record at 14,103 square feet at Desert Breeze Community Center, but this was about so much more than breaking a record. After the build, we welcomed 150 foster and kinship children into the fort for an afternoon filled with games, activities, food, fun, and memories they will never forget.

This achievement would not have been possible without the dedication, creativity, and hard work of so many people who believed in this vision and came together to make it a reality.

Thank you to everyone who played a part in this incredible journey. What we built was more than a fort—we built community, joy, and memories that will last a lifetime.

Teamwork truly makes the dream work🙌🙌

From community recognitions and park cleanups to the grand opening of the Mike Aker Inclusive Field and Desert Breeze Ballfields, the Fire Station 15 Art Mural Dedication, and even breaking a Guinness World Record for the Largest Blanket Fort, it has been an exciting and impactful spring for District F.

After countless hours of hard work, Clark County, Nevada officially became the Guinness World Records holder for the Largest Blanket Fort at 14,103 square feet!

This incredible, record-breaking design was created by students of West Career and Technical Academy, whose vision was brought to life at the Desert Breeze Community Center by an incredible team of volunteers, community partners, small business owners, sponsors, and families.

After the build was complete, 150 children from Foster Kinship and Clark County Family Services filled the fort with laughter, games, activities, and an appearance by Stomper from the A's, LVMPD and CCFD helped create unforgettable memories.

Clark County is honored to partner with the Cook Center for Human Connection to bring together incredible voices from across the Las Vegas community to share an important message about mental health awareness, support, and hope.

Mental health affects all of us, which is why open conversations, trusted resources, and supportive communities matter so much. Sometimes, simply knowing you are not alone can make all the difference.

This project united community leaders, organizations, athletes, entertainers, educators, and local voices with one shared goal — to help break the stigma surrounding mental health and encourage people to seek support when they need it.

We are proud to support and the incredible work being done to help families across Clark County.

Together, we can continue creating a community where people feel seen, heard, supported, and connected.
