Thrive at 25, 2026!
Housing, utilities, groceries, entertainment - expenses add up quickly by the time people turn 25 years old (not to mention taxes, pets, cars, healthcare and more!). Sophomores at Sandy High School - now 10 years away from that age - got a glimpse into their possible future at the yearly Thrive at 25 event, sponsored by the Sandy Area Chamber of Commerce.
The event is like the game of Life, where students see how their financial future may play out based on a possible career and all the expenses they can expect to have when they are 25 years old. Once they reconcile their hypothetical income with their hypothetical expenses (with the help of more than 40 volunteers from the chamber!), they see if they break even, have a little money left over or are potentially in the red.

Thanks to these community businesses and organizations for volunteering!

AMR visits Boring Middle School
Responders from AMR made a special call to Boring MIddle School on Wednesday, March 4, giving students in the Intro to First Aid classes a tour of their ambulance while also offering insight into their career.
The First Aid classes are offered in Health Sciences at BMS, one of the three Career & Technical Education (CTE) tracks at the school. Other CTE classes range from Vet Science in the Agriculture Track to Intro to Engineering: Robotics and Drones in the Science and Engineering track.
These CTE classes can be taken for credit at Sandy High School, providing an early start to a student's CTE path and laying the foundation for next steps after high school.

Welches School Ceramics
Since late January, students at Welches School from kindergarten through eighth grade have dug their hands into learning all about ceramics. Artist Beth Wilson visited the school for three sessions, leading students through the process of sculpting and glazing their ceramics as part of the Right Brain Initiative. The program was made possible through support from the Welches Parent Teacher Community Organization, which help raise funds through the annual Rainbow Run that fixed and improved the school's kiln.
