Everyone is welcome! Join us for a FREE community event for all ages bringing families, law enforcement, firefighters, and community partners together in a welcoming and inclusive environment.

**THE CAMPAIGN MAY BE ENDING. THE MESSAGE ISN'T.**
Throughout , we've talked about why people speed, the consequences of driving too fast, what speed does to reaction time and crash severity, and the many ways Sandy City works to make our roads safer.
We've introduced you to the people behind traffic safety—from our officers enforcing speed laws to the engineers studying our roads. We've talked about radar trailers, neighborhood speeding concerns, traffic calming, and the importance of education, engineering, and enforcement.
But after everything we've shared, safer streets still begin with one person:
The driver behind the wheel.
Every time you drive through a neighborhood, school zone, or busy Sandy street, you have a choice.
Slow down. Pay attention. Give yourself time to react.
The campaign may be over, but our commitment to safer streets continues—and we hope yours does too.

SIGNS ALONE DON'T CHANGE BEHAVIOR
Many people ask if adding more signs will solve speeding problems.
Research has shown that extra warning signs alone often don't reduce speeds or prevent crashes. In fact, too many signs can become visual clutter, making them easier for drivers to overlook.
The most effective solutions combine education, engineering, and enforcement.

"WHY NOT JUST INSTALL SPEED BUMPS?"
We hear this question often.
It sounds simple—but traffic safety is rarely that simple.
While speed humps can slow vehicles at one specific location, they may also cause drivers to speed up between them. They can also delay emergency response vehicles and create challenges for snow removal and street maintenance.
Finding the right solution means balancing safety, emergency access, and long-term road maintenance.
That's why traffic engineers study each neighborhood carefully before recommending improvements.

Our community joined our Sandy City Police Department today for Soda with Sandy P.D. at . What a great opportunity to connect our residents with the men and women who work each day and night to keep our neighborhoods safe.

As part of the event today, our Sandy Police Law Enforcement Explorer Post 9550 also turned up as volunteers who are learning all about law enforcement and helping our city immensely. These youth show up at all our major events to help the public in any way they can.
