Sandy Police Law Enforcement Explorer Post 9550 The Sandy Police Explorer Post is a professional Law Enforcement Orientation Program for youth between the ages of 14 to 21.

The Sandy City Law Enforcement Explorer Post was started in 1976 and is chartered by the BSA. The purpose of the program is build an understanding with the youth of the community, to involve youth in police operations, and to interest them in future law enforcement careers. The program is open to anyone between the ages of 14 to 21. An application must be filled out and the candidate must attend a

n orientation meeting/interview with the Post Advisor (with a parent if under 18), and pass a background check. Explorers meet every Thursday night from 1700 to 2100 hrs for training. There are opportunity to participate in various events throughout the week. Explorers can sign-up for these events at Post Meeting. The Sandy Explorers were honored to participate in the 20th Annual Memorial Ride honoring Utah officers who have been killed in the line of duty.

It was a meaningful day to come together, remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice, and show our continued support for their families and fellow officers.

We are grateful to be part of an event that keeps their names and memories alive.

Last Thursday,the weather definitely didn’t cooperate at the Sandy Amphitheater. Heavy rain and flooding made for a pretty wet evening, but that didn’t stop our Explorers from showing up and doing what they do best.

They stayed at their stations, helped where they were needed, and continued to support the event despite the weather. We’re proud of their willingness to step up, even when the conditions aren’t ideal.

Rain or shine, our Explorers are there!

Last Thursday, the Sandy Police Explorers gathered to celebrate another incredible year at our 2025 Awards Banquet.

The evening was an opportunity to recognize the hard work, dedication, leadership, and countless volunteer hours our Explorers contributed throughout the year. We are proud of everything they have accomplished and grateful for the advisors, families, and community members who continue to support our program.

Start your Fourth of July celebration with the Sandy Police Explorers!

Join us at 6:45 AM for the annual Flag Raising Ceremony as we honor our country and those who have served to protect it.

Then hang out and enjoy all of the activities and festivities throughout the day. Be sure to watch for our Explorers in the parade beginning at 6:00 PM as they continue a long-standing tradition of serving our community.

Stick around and end the night with the fireworks show at 10:00 PM.
