Two probation absconders arrested in the Lemon Springs area of Lee County within 24 hours

In the early hours of June 18th, 2026, an operation was conducted that resulted in the arrest of a probation absconder with several outstanding warrants.

Narcotic Agents with the Lee County Sheriff's Office, assisted by the North Carolina Department of Adult Correction Special Operations and Intelligence Unit and the United States Marshals Service Carolinas Regional Fugitive Task Force located Robin Chalmers Brown (42) near a residence where he had been hiding.

Brown was arrested without incident after agents conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle he was operating near midnight.

Brown was brought before a Lee County Magistrate, where he received a $75,000 Secured Bond.

Later in the day, Lee County Sheriff's Office Patrol Division Deputies responded to a property damage call on Pilson Road. Deputies learned that the suspect of the property damage was Charmonte Reginald Worthy (28), a suspect who was a wanted probation absconder who absconded on a kidnapping charge.

Worthy fled into the woods upon the arrival of deputies and led deputies on a man hunt in the area. Lee County Sheriff's Office K9's responded to the scene and began to track the suspect in the area of Pilson Road, Hancock Crossing, and Sanders Road.

After spotting Worthy near Wi******er Drive, K9's began to track Worthy back toward the initial residence that deputies had responded to. Worthy was apprehended by deputies in the woods behind the residence as he attempted to come back to the residence.

Worthy was brought before a Lee County Magistrate, who issued a $50,000 Secured Bond.

Deputies Make Drug Arrest Following Traffic Stop

On June 10, 2026, members of the Lee County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division conducted a traffic stop in the area of John Garner Road and Swanns Station Road.

During the stop, agents located crack co***ne in possession of Michael Deangelo Moncrease, 41, who is currently on federal probation for prior narcotics and fi****ms convictions. Moncrease's federal probation officer was contacted immediately upon his arrest.

Moncrease was taken into custody and charged with one count each of the following:

•Possession with Intent to Manufacture, Sell, or Deliver a Schedule II Controlled Substance

•Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Moncrease was transported to the Lee County Magistrate’s Office, where he was ordered held without bond.

Regarding the incident that occurred early this morning, please see the following press release from the Sanford Police Department.

The deputy’s vehicle that was struck was parked and unoccupied at the time of the incident, as were the other vehicles involved.

June 10, 2026 – Sanford Police are investigating the shooting death of a 17-year-old male Sanford resident. Around 1:30AM Wednesday officers responded to Oak Branch Lane in The Oaks Apartments after receiving reports of a vehicle collision and a person being shot. When officers arrived on scene they discovered several wrecked cars and a 17-year-old victim suffering from a gunshot wound. The investigation revealed the vehicle operated by the 17-year-old victim accelerated at a high rate of speed on Oak Branch Ln. and collided with the several unoccupied parked cars, including a Lee County Sheriff’s Office patrol car, after he was shot. The 17-year-old victim was transported away from the scene for medical care but was pronounced dead by emergency medical personnel while in transit. This is an active investigation and no other information is available for release at this time. Sanford Man’s Freedom Was Brief: Fugitive Found, Drugs and Stolen Gun Seized

On June 4, 2026, Lee County Sheriff’s Office Narcotic Agents executed a search warrant at a Sanford residence to apprehend Jonathon Michael Jackson (39), who had several outstanding warrants after being mistakenly released from the Wayne County Jail.

Agents located Jackson inside the home and took him into custody. During transport, Jackson attempted to remove a bag of methamphetamine from his person and conceal it inside a patrol vehicle.

While at the residence, deputies observed drugs, drug paraphernalia, ammunition, and firearm cases in plain view, leading to a second search warrant being executed at the home. Agents located and seized Fentanyl, Methamphetamine, Mushrooms, Synthetic Ma*****na, and two fi****ms, including one reported stolen. A minor child was also present in the residence.

Jackson was arrested and charged with Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver Schedule I Controlled Substance, Felony Possession of Schedule I Controlled Substance, two counts of Possession with Intent to Sell and Deliver Schedule II Controlled Substance, two counts of Felony Possession of Schedule II Controlled Substance, Possession of Firearm by Convicted Felon, Exposing Child to Controlled Substance, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Maintaining a Dwelling for Sale of Controlled Substance, Possess with Intent to Sell and Distribute Controlled Substance within 1000 feet of a school, and Possession of Stolen Firearm.

Jackson was brought before a Lee County Magistrate, who ordered he be held without bond.

On June 2nd, 2026, Lee County Sheriff's Office Narcotic Agents concluded a two month investigation into Fentanyl sales by conducting a traffic stop and search warrant at a residence in Lee County.

Agents conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle operated by Uriah Joel Brooks (23). During the traffic stop, Brooks was armed with a firearm that was in his hands upon the approach of agents. Agents conducted a search of the vehicle and located Fentanyl, Co***ne, and Ma*****na both in the vehicle and concealed on Brooks and a female occupant of the vehicle, Jasney Emerson (21).

Brooks and Emerson were both arrested and brought to the Sheriff's Office for processing. During the booking process, agents located additional Fentanyl on Brooks' person that he was attempting to destroy and conceal.

Agents executed a search warrant at Brooks' residence. During a search of the residence, agents located additional Fentanyl and Co***ne, as well as several items of drug paraphernalia inside of the residence that were indicative of manufacturing controlled substances.

As a result of the traffic stop, Brooks was charged with two counts Trafficking Fentanyl, Possess with Intent to Sell and Deliver Fentanyl, Possess with Intent to Sell and Deliver Controlled Substance within 1000 Feet of a School, Felony Conspiracy, Possession of Controlled Substance on Jail Premises, Alter/Destroy Criminal Evidence, Felony Possession of Co***ne, Possess Ma*****na up to ½ Ounce, Expired Registration Card/Tag, felony Carrying Concealed Gun, Window Tint Violation, Fail to Heed Lights and Siren, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Driving Left of Center.

Emerson was arrested and charged with Felony Possession of Schedule II Controlled Substance (Co***ne) and Felony Conspiracy.

As a result of the search warrant, Brooks was charged with Trafficking Fentanyl, Possess with Intent to Sell and Deliver Fentanyl, Trafficking in Co***ne, Possess with Intent to Sell and Deliver Co***ne, Maintaining a Dwelling for the Sale of Controlled Substance, and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Brooks was brought before a Lee County Magistrate who ordered he be held without bond. The following day, a Lee County District Court Judge ordered Brooks be held with a $1,500,000 Secured Bond.

Emerson was brought before a Lee County Magistrate, who issued a $10,000 Unsecured Bond.
