Happy World Mosquito Day! 🦟🌎

Today, we want to give a HUGE shoutout to our technicians who have been working hard all season to protect our community and keep mosquito populations under control throughout Midland County! 👏

Our technicians spend long days out in the field treating, monitoring, and responding to mosquito activity, often working in the heat and humidity to help make it safer and more enjoyable for everyone to spend time outdoors. We truly appreciate all of the hard work and dedication they’ve put in this year!

And you may notice a special little visitor joining them in these photos… 👀🦟

Meet Meep! Meep is the American Mosquito Control Association’s mascot, and for World Mosquito Day, he’s traveling to mosquito control districts around the world. We’re happy to welcome him to Midland County and put him to work… or at least let him supervise our technicians for the day. 😂

Here is the nighttime fogging progress this week for Monday through Wednesday evenings. The colored lines are where the truck was fogging through the various Townships. If you don’t see activity in your Township (Mills, Lincoln), understand that we will be entering into those areas in the coming days. Overall, every Township has had 5 – 7 passes through this season. The map below features the resident calls for high mosquito numbers taken this week. the calls are clustering in Ingersoll, Midland Township and Mt. Haley. Each time a resident calls to report high numbers of mosquitoes, a point is placed on the County map. This is an important data source for operational planning. These townships have been the focus this week for adult mosquito fogging. And nighttime fogging continues through the remaining townships as well. Call 989-832-8677 to report mosquito issues.
