Sanford’s newest bees have officially arrived! 🐝

Today we celebrated the unveiling of two new bee sculptures as part of the Bee City USA program, which highlights the important role bees and other pollinators play in our community.

Thank you to Pfizer, the Women's Club of Sanford, Marilyn Bellamy, and several private donors for sponsoring these fun works of public art — and to artists Chris Dalton, Destini Richlin, and Young Yun for bringing them to life!

The bees will be installed at the Pfizer campus on Hawkins Avenue and the MANN Center for the Arts on Steele Street.

Swipe through this album to see moments from the unveiling. 🎨🐝

Every great city is shaped by residents who choose to serve.

Thank you to everyone who has volunteered their time on the City of Sanford's boards, commissions, and committees. Your ideas, expertise, and dedication help guide important decisions and make our community stronger.

A special thank you goes to long-time Appearance Commission member Dave Schau, who is concluding an incredible 14 years of service. During his tenure, the Commission created the Public Art Program, became Tree City USA and Bee City USA affiliates, and established an annual Juneteenth celebration.

Thank you, Dave, for the role you played in making Sanford a more beautiful and welcoming place for all. 💙🌳🐝

Thank you to everyone who joined us last month to honor history, celebrate culture, and create lasting memories together.

We appreciate everyone who helped make this special event possible!

As we sort through photos and videos from the amazing Juneteenth: Freedom Songs, let’s give another note of praise to the W.B. Wicker Community Dance Troupe.

This group, led by Rejeana Gray and Janessa Cadilenia, performed for the first time After just three practices. What a team!

Here are a few snippets of their Michael Jackson medley.
