We are saddened to hear of the tragic passing of Lee County Board of Education member Marcus Mason. While we may not have shared the same political affiliation, moments like these remind us that community comes before politics. We extend our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, colleagues, and all who knew him during this difficult time. Our thoughts and prayers are also with the firefighters and first responders who were on the scene. May he rest in peace.

This Memorial Day, we’re taking time to pause, remember, and honor the service members who made the ultimate sacrifice. We won’t stop fighting for the policies and funding our military families actually deserve. May we never forget their sacrifice. 🕊️💙

Another day, another funding loss for Lee County. Yesterday we dug into the Lee County Schools budget. Today we’re digging into the county budget, where we see a $500,000 reduction from the state in “Medicaid hold harmless” payments and a $373,354 reduction from federal FNS reimbursements. In addition, the county warns that additional cuts are expected in future years.

Don’t take our word for it — these pics are from the county budget, found on their website, approved by our Republican majority Board of Commissioners.

We simply can’t afford to vote for Charles Taylor-R, Jim Burgin-R, Brad Knott-R, or Michael Whatley-R. They are actively hurting Lee County!

Lee County Schools just announced a $3,000,000 budget cut, mainly due to federal and state level funding cuts approved by our Republican congressmen. This isn’t “Democratic Party spin”— these are the words used by a fully Republican school board. They said it, not us. And the result? A cut in CTE programs (masonry, electrical, welding, plumbing — career trades), and a cut in elementary school intervention.

So what do we do? WE VOTE. We quit falling for the socially divisive rhetoric that is meant to scare people into voting against their own interests.

That’s all you have to do… you just have to acknowledge that this is bad, and vote against it. DON’T FALL FOR THESE BAIT AND SWITCH TACTICS THAT HURT OUR COMMUNITY. If you voted for John Sauls, Jim Burgin, Brad Knott, Thom Tillis, or Ted Budd, then you voted for these cuts. You voted for less CTE programs (masonry, electrical, welding, plumbing — career trades) You voted for less elementary school intervention.

If you fall for this again in November and vote for Charles Taylor, Jim Burgin (again), Brad Knott (again), or Michael Watley, then more cuts will follow. Our kids are too important for this!
