We’re excited to introduce Christina Taylor, Project Sanford’s Community Impact Chair!

A longtime Sanford resident and local business owner, Christina is also an independent survival swim instructor and the proud mother of a Sanford firefighter. Her deep roots in our community and passion for helping others make her a perfect fit for this exciting new chapter of Project Sanford. ❤️

Her first initiative is already underway, raising funds to help provide LUCAS devices, which assist first responders in delivering consistent, high-quality CPR during cardiac emergencies.

This is what Community Impact is all about. Identifying real needs, bringing people together, and turning community support into action.

Thank you, Christina Taylor for this amazing fundraiser!

You know me as a survival swim instructor but I am also a proud mom of two sons. One of them is a Sanford firefighter. He told me a story about doing CPR on a patient and emphasized how physically exhausting it was, sweating on the patient. He talked about how CPR is challenging and potentially dangerous when performing compressions while the rescue truck is moving. It got me thinking, I know there are tools that some other departments have that perform the compressions (quality, consistent compressions allowing the first responders to focus on patient care). I decided to try to raise some money to help purchase these devices for our first responders.

Our first Union PR event is officially in the books! 🚒

We kicked things off with a run through Downtown Sanford, and we want to thank everyone who came out, participated, and showed their support.

This is just the beginning. We’re looking forward to bringing you more events, videos, and a closer look at the people who serve our community every day.

🚨 Every day, Sanford Professional Firefighters put their lives on the line in a job that slowly takes its toll — through sleep deprivation, elevated cancer risks, cardiac issues, su***de, and traumatic stress. They also face life-threatening dangers on every emergency call.
For years, our members have fought for:
• Competitive wages to match surrounding departments
• A reduced workweek (from 56 to 42 hours) to comply with state law
• Stronger pensions to support their families

Because of the physical and mental demands of this profession, many retire in their 50s and face serious long-term health challenges that can shorten their post-retirement years.
This is why we as a union cannot simply agree to whatever the city offers when those proposals fail to address these critical issues we desperately need to fix.
Our firefighters show up every shift to protect the health and safety of Sanford citizens. The Union will fight just as hard for fair pay, better working conditions, and the retirement security they have earned.
