Good morning! The rain brought a little bit of relief from the heat. As we move into summer, though, we are requesting donations to help our neighbors stay cool.

Compassion is at the heart of The Salvation Army’s mission. Inspired by the words of our founder William Booth, we continue to care for the hungry, help the helpless, and love our neighbors through service in Lee County and beyond. We are deeply grateful for the support of our community, whose generosity, encouragement, and partnership make this work possible every day.

This is the start of National Salvation Army Week! Today, we recognize bravery in action right here in Lee County and are grateful for the dedication of our staff, volunteers, and community partners.

The proclamation issued by Rebecca Wyhoff-Salmon at the Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast held at St. Luke United Methodist Church on May 7, 2026, is a meaningful reminder that compassion, service, and hope continue to make a lasting impact in the lives of our neighbors every day.

“Brave” describes the work of Salvation Army staff and volunteers who go into difficult places to serve neighbors in need — standing beside families facing impossible choices and offering hope during moments of crisis.
