Yesterday, our department had the honor of standing alongside our Brothers and Sisters from across the Valley at the 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony in Clovis, paying tribute to the brave men and women who responded, remembering the lives lost, and reflecting on how everyone united. We also had the privilege of humbly being part of the ceremony at Sanger High School.
🇺🇸 We will never forget. 🇺🇸

🚨 PG&E Gas Leak Safety PSA 🚨

At the City of Sanger Fire Department, our top priority is keeping our community safe, and safety starts with knowledge. Here’s what you need to know to stay safe if you encounter a gas leak hazard—along with clear steps to help you navigate the situation with confidence.

“How do I know the signs of a gas leak?”

SMELL:

Even small amounts of natural gas can be detected by a distinct sulfur-like or rotten egg odor added for safety.

SOUND:

Be alert for hissing, whistling, or roaring sounds near gas appliances or underground—these could be signs of a gas leak.

SIGHT:

Look for dirt spraying in the air, continual bubbling in a pond or creek, or spot dead or dying vegetation in an otherwise healthy, moist area.

“I suspect a gas leak, what do I do next?”

ALERT everyone nearby and evacuate the area immediately to an upwind location

DO NOT use anything that could be a source of electrical ignition, such as cell phones, flashlights, light switches, matches, or vehicles.

CALL 911 for emergency assistance, and then call PG&E at 1-800-743-5000.

For more information and other resources, visit PG&E's website https://www.pge.com/en.html

Always be safe, be informed, and call 811 before you dig.
