I am sending out a special thank you to my constituents and friends today. As I close the chapter on an exceptional term of service as your state representative, I want to highlight a few of the victories and recognize the people who helped me serve you along the way.
Of course, there are many Conservative victories to be proud of these past eight years. From historic property tax relief and reform to finally passing Constitutional Carry and protecting life, there have been major seachanges in policy across this nation during my tenure. Each of these accomplishments is worthy of their praise.
It is the local victories, however, that will have the more significant impact as I continue to live, work, and serve this community that has given back so much to Lori and I over the past four decades. In the last session alone, I was proud to pass "Athena Alerts" into law and see these local Amber Alerts already start to save lives. Thanks to a tool I secured last session, I will be thrilled to watch the progress of the new North Texas Fairgrounds.
In previous sessions, I delivered the funding that secured a new Driver's License Office for Denton, created a tuition repayment/recruitment program for law enforcement, and removed barriers to college for the next generation of hard-working Texans. I am also honored to have helped deliver access to billions in funding for the University of North Texas over the years, and established Texas Women's University as the first women-focused university system in the nation.
Of course, many people helped steer the ship along the way. Thank you to my Chiefs of Staff Worth Farabee and Jordan Overturf for guiding policy priorities across the finish line for HD 64 and the state. Thank you to my Capitol and District Staffers who spent thousands of hours serving our constituents in Denton and Wise Counties — a special recognition to my district liaison, Lyle Dresher, who has been with my office from the beginning. Thank you to the local elected officials and community leaders who were our policy partners. You helped us craft and pass crucial bills to serve families and businesses across the region.
I also want to be sure to thank all of my supporters throughout the years. You hosted events, welcomed us to your organizations, and worked together with my office to strengthen Texas. Most importantly, I want to thank my amazing wife Lori and my family for their support. You never serve alone and they have been an incredible foundation for me as I tackle some of the greatest challenges in my life as an elected official.
In total, I sent nearly 50 pieces of legislation to the Governor's Desk to be passed into law to protect and preserve the greatest state in the greatest nation the world has ever known. Serving as a Texas State Representative for the past eight years has been an immense honor. My faith will continue to guide my service to my community.
Thank you. God bless y'all. And GOD BLESS TEXAS!
