Eyes on the sky, support on the ground.

Our exclusive-use Type 2 helicopter has officially arrived today at Fresno-Kings Unit Headquarters in Sanger and is ready for the 2026 fire season.

From conducting aerial reconnaissance to delivering water drops and transporting firefighters into difficult to reach locations, helicopters are a vital part of the wildfire suppression efforts. Their ability to quickly respond and support crews across diverse terrain helps keep fires small and strengthen our overall emergency response capabilities.

As the weather starts heating up, remember to mow dry grass before 10am to help reduce the risk of sparks that can cause fast moving grass fires during the hottest part of the day. Always have a shovel, bucket of water or fire extinguisher nearby while mowing. If a fire starts, call 911 immediately! Stay safe and be prepared!

Crews responded to a commercial vehicle fire in the area of Maple Avenue and Central Avenue, south of Fresno. When crews arrived at scene they found a flatbed truck on fire that was being hauled on a tow truck. Fortunately, the tow truck driver was able to disconnect the vehicle before the fire spread to the tow truck.

The flatbed truck was fully involved, and the fire extended into the surrounding grass. Both fires were quickly contained. No injuries were reported. The cause of the vehicle fire is under investigation.
