It’s that time of year in Texas!
With temperatures climbing into the triple digits, the Sanger Fire Department wants to remind everyone to take precautions and stay safe in the summer heat.
• Drink plenty of water throughout the day, even if you don't feel thirsty.
• Limit outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day (typically between 3 PM and 6 PM).
• Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing and sunscreen when outdoors.
• Take frequent breaks in the shade or air conditioning.
• Never leave children, elderly individuals, or pets unattended in a vehicle—temperatures inside a car can become deadly within minutes.
• Check on family members, neighbors, and friends who may be more vulnerable to heat-related illnesses.
Know the signs of heat exhaustion:
• Heavy sweating
• Dizziness
• Weakness
• Nausea
• Headache
If someone becomes confused, loses consciousness, or stops sweating, call 911 immediately. These may be signs of heat stroke, a life-threatening emergency.
Remember, if it's too hot for you, it's too hot for your pets. Make sure they have plenty of fresh water and a cool place to rest.
Stay cool, stay hydrated, and stay safe, Sanger!
