The Sangerville fire department is extremely saddened by the events in Searsmont. As firefighters we accept this level of risk. Yet it makes it no easier to see some of our own injured and killed helping their community. We pray for all involved.

It was a sad day for the public safety community. Our hearts go out to the people closest to a Maine warden gone too soon.

It has been a journey but we are happy to have this chapter completed. From now on we are able to offer non-transporting medical care to the people of Sangerville. We are constantly striving to improve and give the people of this community the safety and care they deserve.

Please take a moment and join me in thanking all of the Sangerville fire departments dedicated personnel as well as the members of all of our mutual aid departments who we work so closely with for their sacrifice. They all face so much that is seen and even more that can not be seen. Yet they come back everyday. I tip my hat to you all.

It was a steady weekend for Sangerville fire crews. Saturday we started off assisting with our rescue boat in the canoe race. For the rest of the weekend we kept busy with some mutual aid help with a building fire out of town and a small wildland fire in town. I can’t thank our crew enough for putting in the time.

Sangerville Fire Department will be sending a crew to Dover tomorrow 4/21 for a training exercise. Please be aware the Foxcroft academy campus will be closed for the duration.

On April 21st, the Piscataquis County Emergency Management Agency is hosting a “Critical Incident” training exercise at Foxcroft Academy. This exercise will give police, fire and emergency medical services (EMS) the opportunity to practice techniques and test procedures in preparation for potential mass events in the area.

As a result, law enforcement agencies, fire departments and EMS personnel from across the region will be present at Foxcroft Academy during this exercise. Please note, the Foxcroft Academy campus, including the Jim Robinson Field House, will be closed to the public until 3:00pm on April 21st.
