🚨 Multi-Agency Effort Leads to Arrest of Dangerous Felony Suspect 🚨
Last night, Sansom Park Police Department patrol officers and the K-9 unit conducted a traffic stop near the 5800 block of Jacksboro Highway for a traffic violation.
During the investigation, officers observed increasingly concerning behavior from the driver. Officers learned the suspect was a convicted felon with a prior history of assaultive behavior toward law enforcement, as well as a history involving the manufacturing and delivery of narcotics.
The suspect refused repeated commands to keep his hands visible. Officers observed a large knife and a homemade-style shank within the vehicle. As officers attempted to remove the suspect from the vehicle, he resisted and physically fought with officers.
The suspect then accelerated the vehicle, placed it in reverse, and intentionally directed the vehicle toward officers. The vehicle narrowly missed most of the officers and grazed one officer before the suspect fled, initiating a pursuit.
The pursuit traveled through multiple jurisdictions, including Burleson and north toward the Denton area, near Texas Motor Speedway.
Fort Worth Police Department specialized units and Air 1 responded to assist Sansom Park officers. During the pursuit, the suspect threw multiple plastic bags from the vehicle containing a light-colored substance.
Fort Worth officers were able to safely bring the vehicle to a stop using a PIT maneuver. The suspect then fled from the vehicle on foot but was apprehended a short time later.
The suspect was arrested and charged with:
• Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon on a Public Servant
• Evading Arrest with a Motor Vehicle
• Resisting Arrest
The suspect was evaluated and medically cleared before being transported to jail.
Thankfully, no officers or other first responders sustained serious injuries during this incident.
The Sansom Park Police Department would like to extend our sincere appreciation to the Fort Worth Police Department, including their patrol, specialized, and DRU units, as well as Air 1, for their rapid response and assistance.
This incident is an excellent example of the importance of multi-agency cooperation and teamwork. The coordinated efforts of multiple law enforcement agencies resulted in the safe apprehension of a dangerous felony suspect and helped bring a potentially volatile situation to a safe conclusion.
We are grateful for our law enforcement partners and their commitment to keeping our communities and officers safe.
