It was wonderful to have strong representation from the OC Health Care Agency for a panel discussion focused on how local government–academic partnerships can help strengthen California’s public health workforce.

Jenna Sarin, Director of Nursing and Public Health Services, served as a panelist and highlighted local collaboration between public health and local academic partners and highlighted state-wide efforts to strengthen Public Health Nursing through through shared vision of academic objectives and public health competencies.

The conversation emphasized how local and statewide coordinated efforts can support a stronger, more prepared public health nursing workforce. Strengthening public health nursing competencies and expanding collaboration with educational partners are key to ensuring nurses are equipped and supported as they enter public health practice.
