Santa Ana Unified School District (SAUSD) is a school district in Orange County, California that serves the city of Santa Ana. Although its geographic size is only 24 square miles (62 km2), it is the sixth largest school district in the state of California with approximately 58,000 students. SAUSD employs approximately 4,500 staff, and its operating budget is $483.1 million.

Meet our next Little SAUSD Leader: Board of Education Member Brenda Lebsack!

Born and raised in Santa Ana, Brenda (Hood) Lebsack grew up in , attending Lowell Elementary, Willard Intermediate, and Santa Ana High School. 🎒📚 Those early roots would eventually lead her back to the community she calls home and a career dedicated to serving students and families.

Her journey has included serving as a peace officer, educator, coach, community advocate, and Adapted Physical Education teacher in SAUSD before taking on her current role as a member of the Board of Education.❤️

From a young SAUSD student growing up in Santa Ana to helping lead the District she once attended, Board Member Lebsack’s story reminds our students that the future can begin right here at home. 🌟

🎓✨ Financial aid success across ! Our District’s 2026 financial aid completion rate reached 78%, exceeding the statewide average of 70%! 👏

A special congratulations to Middle College High School for achieving 100% completion and ranking among California’s top five schools in its division, and Segerstrom High School for earning 3rd place statewide in its division with a 95% completion rate in the 2026 California FAFSA/CADAA Race to Submit State Challenge! 🏆
