“Hi! My name is Valerie, and I’m very excited to be joining the NOVA Academy team. I have several years of experience working in education and supporting students, and I truly enjoy creating a positive and safe environment where students can learn, grow, and feel supported. I’m excited to join NOVA because I’m looking forward to getting to know the students and staff, building new relationships, and becoming part of the school community. This year, I’m especially looking forward to helping students have a successful school year and continuing to grow professionally alongside the NOVA team.”

“Hello, my name is Zach. I have a Bachelor’s in Kinesiology and a Master’s in Coaching. I am the PE Aide and boys coach for cross country, basketball, and volleyball. I like reading, running, binge watching shows and hanging out with friends.”

“Hi! I’m Ms. Barry, and I’m excited to be teaching 6th grade this year. I graduated from California State University, Fullerton with a Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Studies and earned my California Multiple Subject Teaching Credential. I love creating an engaging, supportive classroom where every student can grow academically and personally. Sixth grade is my favorite grade to teach, so I’m especially excited to work with this year’s students. Outside of the classroom, I enjoy reading, golfing, and spending time at the beach. I look forward to getting to know my students and making this a fun, memorable, and successful school year!”

I spent 16 years studying and teaching in Mainland China. I also taught for five years in New York City. I was born in Detroit, Michigan. “My name is Ms. Lopez and for the past few years, I have been a stay-at-home mom. This past year I was able to volunteer in my daughter’s TK class and that reignited my passion for helping students, especially with motivation to try their best and never give up. I look forward to getting to know the students here at NOVA and to helping create a supportive environment! Some of my interests include crime/mystery podcasts, novels by Frieda McFadden, and Marvel TV shows/ movies.”

Through NOVA’s College Opportunity Program, students can choose from three pathways designed to help them reach their goals: earn as Associate Degree, earn a Career Certificate, or complete college coursework that transfers to a four-year university—all while in high school. 🎓
