On August 7, members of our department gathered at Harbor Patrol alongside members of the Gates family for the dedication of our newest fire rescue boat, named in honor of former Sheriff Brad Gates.

A maritime tradition dating back generations, a boat dedication ceremony formally names a new boat before it enters active service, symbolizing a safe journey for its crew and a commitment to protecting the community.

We’re proud to welcome this new addition to our fleet and grateful to the Gates family for joining us as we continue to honor Sheriff Gates’ legacy.

Travel doesn't have to be ruff thanks to the AirPAWS Ambassadors from Orange County Animal Allies! Their comfort team helped make travel a little less stressful, while our John Wayne Airport Police team spread some extra cheer with sheriff stickers. 🐾🚔 ✈️

Class is back in session and parents, this one’s for you!

🚗 School zones are for slowing down.

🚌 Stop for school buses. Those flashing lights and stop signs aren’t suggestions. They’re your cue to STOP.
Check the crosswalk. Look twice for students walking, biking, or scootering to class.

☝️ Follow drop-off & pickup procedures. Yes, we know you’re in a hurry. So is everyone else. Following the rules keeps traffic moving and more importantly, keeps kids safe.

Our K9 Unit and Air Support Unit recently teamed up for their annual training, putting their skills to the test. 🚔🐾🚁

From safely boarding and exiting helicopters to deploying in remote, hard-to-reach locations, these K9s and deputies are training for real-world deployments.

This hands-on training helps ensure both teams are ready to work together and safely apprehend suspects, no matter where the job takes them.
