CALM CALM envisions safe communities where every family is supported and every child thrives. Jackie was not ready to become a parent.

Imagine a world where all parents are supported and all children thrive. After her baby was born, she was so depressed, she didn't want to leave the house. She could barely look at her baby, and resented him every time he cried. Fortunately, a CALM home visitor met Jackie and got her help for her depression. The CALM worker taught Jackie how important speaking, singing and reading is to her baby's

developing brain. Jackie learned about child development and appropriate expectations. Today, Jackie and her son have a happy, healthy relations and they are both thriving. CALM....protecting the most important relationship in the world.

CALM is proud to be part of the Sexual Assault Response Team (SART), where we provide trauma-informed Child Forensic Interviews to support justice system investigations and advocacy.

SART, made up of 21 partners across Santa Barbara County, was recently awarded $236,375 in federal funding to expand into a new space that will “provide a more appropriate setting for forensic examinations and critical services, while helping ensure greater privacy, safety, dignity, and comfort for survivors and victims,” shared Congressman Salud Carbajal, who advocated for this grant.

We are grateful for the support of this partnership that helps hundreds of survivors heal and achieve justice each year.
