Behind every successful school is an office team making the magic happen behind the scenes! We are proud to recognize Jay Munoz, Carlos Diosdado, and Wendy Landeros with the Collaborative Spirit Award. πŸ†

This dynamic trio acted as the hub for the recent WASC accreditation site visit. They coordinated with school leadership, families, and external evaluators to ensure a seamless visit. Beyond logistics, they transformed the school environment, highlighting student artwork and custom banners that put our student learning outcomes front and center.

Their anticipation, creativity, and interdisciplinary coordination built a powerful sense of school pride and played a critical role in a highly successful WASC accreditation. Congratulations, Jay, Carlos, and Wendy!

On this day in 1866, exactly 160 years ago, the Santa Barbara School District was officially formed! 🏫✨

To say things have changed a bit would be an understatement. Check out what education looked like in our region back then:

πŸ“ There were only three local districts: San Buenaventura, Montecito, and Santa Barbara.
πŸ“‹ Out of 1,243 children in the county, only 325 were enrolled in public schools.
πŸ—“οΈ Each district had just two schools, and the school year only lasted 3 to 5 months!

We've come a long way from those two small schoolhouses, but our commitment to educating and supporting Santa Barbara's children remains exactly the same. Thank you to our community for keeping the spirit of learning alive for 160 years and counting! β€οΈπŸ“š

Today, we recognize Santa Barbara Community Academy Special Education Paraeducators Monique Garcia and Mitchell Flores with the Collaborative Spirit Award. πŸ†

At the start of the school year, Monique and Mitchell took the initiative to launch a brand-new positive behavior incentive system for their campus. They built the guidelines, presented the program to staff, and even gathered community donations. πŸ›οΈ

Their partnership resulted in fewer office referrals and a huge boost in student kindness and responsibility. πŸ‘πŸ‘β€οΈ
