The Santa Barbara County Education Office and the County Board of Education proudly awarded this year's Joe Howell Legacy Scholarship to Juan Tello Salinas, 17, a former student of SBCEO's Juvenile Court and Community Schools program.

Juan's commitment to making the most of a second chance reflects the spirit of the Joe Howell Legacy Scholarship, created to honor longtime trustee Joe Howell and his 25 years of service supporting local students.

This week, nearly 100 counselors and administrators from school districts across Santa Barbara County, along with representatives from Allan Hancock College and Santa Barbara City College, gathered to explore labor market trends, career pathways, and opportunities that connect students' education to future careers. Through the sharing ideas and resources, participants helped strengthen partnerships that support student success.
