Dear friends,

Serving the people of Santa Barbara County as the 2nd District Supervisor has been a great honor and privilege. I’d like to thank you for the opportunity to give back to our community in this way. When I was sworn into the Board of Supervisors in January of 2019, I had no clue about the once in a lifetime pandemic that our County government would be on the front lines of responding to. What I was sure of, however, was that Santa Barbara County has always been a remarkably resilient and caring community. This proved to be true during our best days and in our most challenging moments.

My term as Supervisor is coming to a close as I assume my new office as your State Assemblymember. Over the past four years, we have worked together to move our community forward. In addition to responding to the COVID-19 pandemic, we have made progress in a number of areas, including: protecting our environment, enhancing our capacity to respond to fires and other emergencies, caring for people experiencing homelessness, and supporting our local small businesses.

I’d like to thank our hardworking County staff members and community partners who go above and beyond each and every day to meet the needs of local residents. I’d also like to thank my colleagues on the Board of Supervisors for the opportunity to meaningfully collaborate. Finally, I’d like to recognize and welcome 2nd District Supervisor-Elect Laura Capps.

I look forward to building on the work that we have done at the County of Santa Barbara in the Legislature. Take care and please reach out any time I can be of assistance to you.

Sincerely,
Gregg Hart

Domestic violence has no place in our community. Domestic violence causes tremendous physical and emotional harm to individuals and families. On top of this, domestic violence disrupts one’s sense of personal safety and can lead to social isolation. Santa Barbara County stands with survivors of domestic violence. All too often, survivors of domestic violence have felt alone or unheard. We want survivors to know that we hear you and that we are committed to providing you with what you need to heal.

The County is also committed to working with our community partners to prevent domestic violence from happening in the first place, and to ensure that we have appropriate response systems in place when domestic violence does occur. I'd like to thank Domestic Violence Solutions for Santa Barbara County for their work to improve the safety and wellbeing of our community.

Twenty one years later, we remember the victims and survivors of the September 11, 2001 attacks. We also recognize the courage and sacrifice of the first responders who heroically responded to the attacks, along with the service members who put their lives on the line overseas in the aftermath of the attacks. The selfless acts of our first responders and service members should inspire us all to to do good for others whenever we have the opportunity.
