25 years later, we remember.
Today, members of the Santa Clara Fire Department paused to honor the nearly 3,000 lives lost on September 11, 2001, including the 343 firefighters and countless police officers, Port Authority officers, and other first responders who made the ultimate sacrifice.
At every Santa Clara Fire Station, a moment of silence was observed as the American flag was lowered to half-staff to remember their courage, their service, and the lives they touched.
25 years later. Always remembered. Never forgotten.

Three weeks down, and the Santa Clara Fire Department 2026-1 Firefighter Academy is turning up the heat!
This week, the recruits got hands-on with the skills that can make all the difference on the fireground:
• Basic ropes & knots
• Forcible entry
• Fire behavior
• Thermal imaging cameras
Every knot tied, door forced, fire analyzed, and heat signature identified is another step toward becoming the firefighters our community can count on.
The work continues. The standard stays high. 🔥🚒

🚒 🐾 Dog lockout? SCFD to the rescue!

With the A/C running and a very important passenger inside, our crews helped reunite this pup with their humans. 🐶 ❄️ Because whether it’s a person or a pup, we’re here to help! ❤️ 🚒

Northbound Montague Expressway at Mission College Boulevard is currently closed due to a fatal traffic collision. Officers are on scene investigating. Please avoid the area and use alternate routes. The reopening time is unknown and no additional details are available at this time.

The Santa Clara Fire Department has purchased a new tiller (tractor drawn aerial) truck that is expected to arrive in October. Driving both the tractor and the tiller of this truck requires great skill.

Operators are being trained now on a used tiller truck for each position to prepare firefighters for when the new tiller arrives.

The Santa Clara Fire Dept has had tiller trucks in the past but currently have straight quint trucks in service. We’re excited to be getting a tiller back in our fleet—improving the apparatus maneuverability and storage capacity.

A short, permitted fireworks display will occur at Levi’s Stadium on Saturday, August 22, 2026 between 8 p.m. and 11 p.m. This is a planned event as part of the Karol G concert. Please do not call 911 to report the sound of fireworks - only call 911 in the event of a true emergency.
