Yesterday, a telling situation unfolded.
Sister Abie and her husband, Alimamy, are often seen side by side after Fajr, selling bread and cakes to support their family and keep their children in school. They are active members of the masjid and live with very limited means.
Yesterday, Sister Abie was absent. She was sick at home, unable to afford a clinic visit. Her son Uthman, in 8th grade, stayed back from school to fry and sell cakes in her place, still wearing his school uniform. The family cannot afford to lose even a single day of income.
Through sadaqa from an Ihsan donor, she was able to receive treatment at a local clinic. Alhamdulillah, she is responding well. So far, $30 has covered her care.
