Happy World Bicycle Day!
Whether you cycle for transport, for fitness, or just for the joy of it, today is for you. And today, we want to make sure you are doing it in a way that keeps your body performing at its absolute best.
Because here is the truth about active hydration that most people get wrong:
𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐝𝐨 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐡𝐲𝐝𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐡𝐞𝐧 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐦𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐧𝐠. 𝐘𝐨𝐮 𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐛𝐞𝐟𝐨𝐫𝐞.
Here is the Active Hydration Hack that makes a genuine difference:
𝐁𝐄𝐅𝐎𝐑𝐄 𝐘𝐎𝐔𝐑 𝐑𝐈𝐃𝐄 𝐎𝐑 𝐖𝐎𝐑𝐊𝐎𝐔𝐓:
Drink 500ml of clean filtered water at least 30 minutes before you begin. This pre-loads your cells with hydration so your body is not playing catch-up from the first pedal stroke. Use water from your AlkaWay Ultra Stream
($1,499) or Alka75 ($4,995) — the mineralisation in alkaline water means your body absorbs it faster and holds it longer.
𝐃𝐔𝐑𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐘𝐎𝐔𝐑 𝐀𝐂𝐓𝐈𝐕𝐈𝐓𝐘:
Aim for 150–250ml of water every 15–20 minutes during moderate exercise. In summer heat, increase this. Carry
a large reusable glass bottle. Cold water is absorbed faster, so pre-chill your AlkaVida bottle the night before.
𝐈𝐌𝐌𝐄𝐃𝐈𝐀𝐓𝐄𝐋𝐘 𝐀𝐅𝐓𝐄𝐑:
This is the window most people miss. In the 30 minutes after exercise, your muscles are in active recovery mode
and they need water to do it properly.
Drink at least 500ml within that first half hour. Add a slice of lemon or a pinch of natural salt if your session was intense.
𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐇𝐀𝐂𝐊:
Fill and freeze half a bottle the night before. Top it up with fresh filtered water before you leave. You get cold,
clean water for the first half of your ride, transitioning to cool filtered water as the ice melts. No shops. No plastic
bottles. Just clean hydration from start to finish.
