Thanks for helping us make this year such a success. We are super proud ofour cafeteria team this year for bringing more new recipes, scratch cooked meals, locally sourced foods and special events to our k-12 students.

Our goal is be better every year! So, look foward to more new things and more nutritious options next school year!

Finishing the year strong in farm to school! As summer approaches we have more organic, local produce available to our students. Pictured here are snap peas, strawberries and cucumbers fresh from organic farm in Aromas. We love ending the year with sweet strawberries and, kindergarten to high school, our students love this, too!! Cucumbers and snap peas are also well enjoyed.

We will be offering meals over the summer. Students enrolled in any of the SCCS summer programs will have the opportunity for a free breakfast and lunch.

At Bayview elementary, we will offer free meals to any child in our community who is 18 or younger.

We are excited to be on the ballot for envirotokens program.

We are always striving to improve school meals for the thousands of Santa Cruz kids we feed every every day. Our goals are big: purchasing more local foods, updating kitchens, scratch cooking more meals, supporting expanded nutrition education, offering healthy, food-focused events at school, the list goes on.

We run on federal and state meal reimbursment and grants, making reaching these goals a challenge. Community support would allow us to continue to work towards the school meal improvements we know our families want.

Hope everyone is rested and ready to finish out the school year strong!! Here is out April menu and April's harvest of the month :)

Remember, we have breakfast available before school or at break everyday at our elementary schools. Breakfast and lunch are FREE to all of our students, every school day.

We are also started to plan meals for the summer school program! As you think about enrolling your kids in summer programming at Santa Cruz City Schools-- meals will be provided throughout the program.

Korean BBQ bowls are on the menu this month and students seem to be enjoying the dish. This is a picture of the tofu bowl, served with a Korean BBQ sauce, shaved organic cabbage and brown rice, garnished with fresh green onion-- its delicious (and FREE!). We are also serving a Beef bowl, similar preperation, using California raised and grass fed Brandt beef. This is school lunch-- better every year!
