Santa Cruz County Women's Commission A non-partisan advisory board to the Santa Cruz County Board of Supervisors

The Commission, a board of 10 volunteer community members, reviews and makes recommendations to the County Board of Supervisors on issues like employment opportunities for women in the County, especially in non-traditional fields, barriers to equal employment and equal pay, current and projected needs of women in our County, and Federal and State legislation affecting women. The Commission also pr

ovides information and resources concerning equal right, opportunities, and community services for women.

The Santa Cruz County Women’s Commission invites the public to join us for our next meeting on Thursday, May 21 from 6:00–8:00 PM at the County Government Building, 701 Ocean Street, 5th Floor Redwood Conference Room.

This month we’ll be hearing from the Western Service Workers Association (WSWA), including Carter Hill, Olivia Sanchez, and Camille Zaug, who will be speaking about their work supporting low-income workers, caregivers, and underserved communities across Santa Cruz and Monterey Counties.

We’ll also be discussing:
• Women’s Commission legislative priorities
• CEDAW implementation updates
• Immigration enforcement activity
• Resource and outreach initiatives
• Ongoing work on the Status of Women and Girls Report

Public participation and comment are always welcome.

Monarch Services is offering the 2026 75-hour Peer Counseling Training beginning May 18. This in-person training prepares participants to become state-certified peer counselors and support survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, and human trafficking.

Whether you are interested in volunteering, growing professionally, or learning how to better support others, this training offers valuable trauma-informed education and practical skills.
